Me and my intentions in this space
My name is Marcelle, my pronouns are She/Her and I am a maker with ADHD. I use the word maker in place of artist because, while I do love visual art, it is not all that I do. I love to build things with my hands, garden, exercise, and create. I specifically wanted to start this blog, however, for my writing. I have always loved to write, for me it is an extension of my creative work in the arts. Although, until I recently graduated college, I had primarily always written to display research or convey an argument. I am now using my skills, knowledge, and love of writing for creative works that are meaningful to me and, I hope, for others as well. However, this is still something I am working on. That is where this space comes in. I am endeavoring to take on a journey where I will hopefully learn more and grow within the space of writing. I thought it may be cool to have a place where I share this work and process.
More about who I am personally
I am a queer woman who loves cats and adventure. I have traveled many places but hope to go even further because there is so much to see and so little time to do it. I like to lift at the gym and feel strong but in the summer I prefer to exercise outdoors in the fresh air. I feel that I am a Trekkie, but I must admit I have seen very little of the original series. I am a huge fan of the movies, but most of all, I love Star Trek: The Next Generation. I have a wonderful partner and an adorable cat, both of whom I love very much. Umm, what else…I am a dairy-free pescatarian and recently went ice fishing for the first time. I am not boring but I do not feel that I am particularly interesting…yet.

I have recently published a book!
My Friend Bernard is a story about neurodiversity, acceptance, and friendship. This story is not told in a traditional way; instead, it is a series of windows into the friendship between the two main characters. This story is narrated by a young boy, telling the reader about his new friend. This book aims to showcase neurodiverse characters in a manner that is non-judgmental, realistic, positive, and possibly informative.
Bernard is new at school and is befriended by another child in his class. The reader is provided with glimpses into their friendship, social struggles, communication differences, and compassion towards one another. This is an important story as it is one many children can relate to themselves or others in their lives. This type of story is not one commonly told, and hopefully, many can find meaning in the words and artwork.
